New Patio Installations

A concrete patio starts with the ground beneath it. We handle full excavation & site preparation, gravel base preparation & soil compaction, formwork & custom formwork, and steel reinforcement & rebar installation before any concrete is placed. This layered approach prevents settling and cracking that plague patios built on poorly prepared subgrade (the compacted soil layer beneath the gravel). The result is a level, durable surface that holds up through years of Lower Mainland rain and freeze-thaw cycles. Every new patio we install reflects the quality standard behind our Built to Last promise.

Patio Replacement and Extensions

Cracked or sunken patios don't just look worn; they create trip hazards and collect standing water. Our old concrete removal & demolition (re & re services) crew removes deteriorated concrete, re-grades the base, and pours a new slab that ties cleanly into your existing structure. Extending a small patio into a full outdoor living area is one of our most requested projects. Obada works directly with homeowners to plan the layout, match or upgrade the finish, and keep the project within budget.

Finish Options and Customization

Concrete patios (design & installation) include your choice of four distinct finishes. Broom finish concrete provides a textured, slip-resistant surface ideal for wet climates. Smooth finish concrete delivers a clean, modern look suited to covered areas. Exposed aggregate finishes reveal natural stone within the concrete for a decorative, durable surface. Stamped concrete & decorative concrete replicates the look of flagstone, slate, or brick with coloured concrete options to match your home's exterior. Each finish is selected based on your property, intended use, and the look you want.

Hot Tub Slabs

A hot tub requires a reinforced concrete slab that can support several thousand pounds of water, equipment, and occupants. We install concrete slabs (hot tub slabs & shed slabs) with proper excavation, base compaction, and steel reinforcement & rebar installation to provide a strong, level foundation. Many homeowners combine a hot tub slab with a larger patio pour, which reduces mobilization costs and creates a unified outdoor space built to last.

PATIO · PROCESS

How We Build a Patio That Holds up for Decades

Every Coastal Concrete patio follows a structured process from initial consultation through final finishing. Here's what to expect when you work with our crew.

01

On-site Consultation

Obada visits your property, discusses your layout preferences and budget, and provides a detailed written estimate at no cost.

04

Formwork and Reinforcement

Custom forms are built to your patio's exact dimensions, and steel rebar is placed to strengthen the slab.

02

Demolition and Excavation

Old concrete is removed, and the site is excavated to the correct depth, including tight-access areas using our micro mini excavator.

05

Concrete Placement

Fresh concrete is poured and levelled within the forms, with careful attention to proper thickness and slope for drainage.

03

Gravel Base and Compaction

A compacted gravel base is installed to create stable, well-drained support that prevents future settling.

06

Finishing and Cleanup

Your chosen finish is applied, control joints are cut, and the site is cleaned before we leave. You'll receive progress photos throughout.

PATIO · DECISION GUIDE

Is a Concrete Patio the Right Choice for Your Property

Many Lower Mainland homeowners default to building a wood deck without weighing the long-term costs. That's a common and costly mistake in this climate.

Maintenance Costs

Wood decks need staining and sealing every two to three years. Concrete patios need only occasional pressure washing.

Pest Exposure

Rats, mice, and raccoons nest under raised wood decks. A concrete patio sits at grade, eliminating that harborage.

Lifespan in Wet Climates

The Lower Mainland's heavy rainfall accelerates wood rot. A properly reinforced concrete patio lasts decades without structural deterioration.

Design Versatility

Stamped, exposed aggregate, coloured, broom, or smooth finishes give you more design options than standard deck boards.

When It Fits

You want a low-maintenance outdoor surface that handles rain, frost, and heavy foot traffic without annual upkeep.

You're replacing an aging wood deck or cracked patio and want a surface that won't need replacement for decades.

You need a level foundation for a hot tub, outdoor kitchen, or furniture that requires a stable, load-bearing surface.

When It May Not

Your property has extreme slope conditions that require an elevated structure rather than a ground-level slab.

You need a temporary parking surface for a short-term construction project where gravel would serve better.

A concrete patio is more durable, lower maintenance, and more versatile in design than a wood deck. Coastal Concrete can customize the finish to match any style preference, and our team works with you to find solutions that fit your budget.
